If you want to see full-speed PSX emulation on these platforms, why not throw in a few dollars to show your support? In any case, here's a link to the bounty for a dynarec on PCs and smartphones, and here's a separate bounty for the Wii U specifically. It's advisable to stay out of the bounties' comment sections: they're meant for development discussion and support of the project, but there's been some high emotions lately and concerns are being voiced about scaring off developers. To aid motivation, the community has set up bounties offering cash to whoever takes the project on. RETROARCH PLAYLIST BUDDY PCOnce a dynarec is ready for conventional platforms (like PC and smartphones) work can begin on one for PowerPC, the type of CPU the Wii U uses.ĭynarecs, however, are very complex pieces of software, and take time and knowledge of both the PSX and target platform to write. This eliminates a lot of emulation overhead and makes for significantly faster emulation. Work is underway by the RetroArch devs to add a dynamic recompiler (dynarec) to Beetle PSX, which allows instructions to be translated ahead of time from the PSX's native MIPS architecture to the native format of whatever platform is doing the emulation. Glad you asked! The PSX is one of the aforementioned difficult cores that we've actually started working on (which is why you'll see it talked about so much). Nintendo - SNES / Famicom (Snes9x 2005 Plus) Magnavox - Odyssey2 / Phillips Videopac+ (O2EM) SNK - Neo Geo Pocket / Color (Beetle NeoPop) It's recommended that your "roms" folder has this folder structure: It helps the program match your roms with the images in Retroarch database. To make the process painless always prefer NO-INTRO rom sets as they have a standard naming convention. In this example playlists and thumbnails will be stored in sd:/retroarch/cores The PC build of Retroarch can generate lists and the format is compatible with Wii U or alternatively you can use RetroArch Playlist Buddy to generate your playlists and thumbnails. You can generate your list using Online Updater, though this is prone to fail if you have a large number of games. Like most other paths, you can set your own in Retroarch under Settings > Directory. These files are stored in the "playlist" folder. RETROARCH PLAYLIST BUDDY 720PI used to play PS1 games on my old 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo laptop with 4GB DDR2 RAM and a GTX 9500M at 720p before without noticing this problem. One of the toughest parts involved in getting the best RetroArch has to offer is setting up the "playlist" files (.lpl) which allow you to make put preset games into an easily-accessible place in the GUI, rather than having to go through the filebrowser and reload cores. Display is 1080p, bilinear filtering off, no shaders at all. RETROARCH PLAYLIST BUDDY BLUETOOTHI'm running next to nothing in the background (closed everything I could so my system tray consisted of nothing but the bluetooth icon and Defender). RETROARCH PLAYLIST BUDDY WINDOWS 10Oh, I also have Game Mode in Windows 10 disabled (since it only allocates 75% resources). Only thing I did was delete my cfg file and start over to see if there was some setting I inadvertently had that was causing problems. I was using it a few weeks ago, but now the games are only running at 100% speed. Does anyone have any suggestions what the issue could be? I also noticed the fast forward toggle isn't working for some reason. Import content button: allows you to browse your files and add content to the current playlist (or just drag and drop them in the window). I'm at my wits end trying to get the scrolling to be smooth. RetroArch Playlist Editor interface tries to be as minimalist as possible and its mostly self-explanatory. Neither of these help any, and only bring about even more stutters. I've tried turning on and off Threaded Video and Hard GPU Sync. I have tried switching between gl, d3d, and vulkan video drivers, and all seem to have the same issue. I'm using the 1.5.0 stable version, but also tried the latest nightly and it was doing the same thing. I even notice when navigating through the menu that it seems like there are frame skips when scrolling through the menu options at times. RETROARCH PLAYLIST BUDDY PLUSIt does this with the Beetle PSX core, but I've also tried bsnes mercury balanced, Genesis Plus GX, and Nestopia cores, and they all have the same issue. I have posted a video here demonstrating this. Games seem to run fine, but when the screen scrolls, it gets really jerky and stutters and looks horrible. Vsync off in both gives even worse stuttering. I have tried Vsync on in Retroarch itself, and also off but with it turned on through the Nvidia application settings instead. ![]() Retroarch is set to use 59.940Hz (which it detects my display as). My TV is set to 59Hz (59.94) in the Nvidia control panel (I've also tried 60Hz instead). However, I'm getting terrible frame pacing stutters. I've having some issues with Retroarch (Windows 圆4), and I'm hoping someone can help me fix it. ![]()
